October 16, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The head of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s administration has said that Minsk plans to “actively” join Chinese President Xi Jinping’s global development initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the US and its allies imposed sweeping sanctions on the Belarusian government, it has sought to reorient the economy toward the East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, trade between the two countries reached a historic high of some $8.5 billion, according to Belarusian media. Belarusian exports rose by about 30 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At today’s meeting with Chinese Ambassador Zhang Wenchuan, D\u017amitryj Krutoj said that Beijing is waiting for Belarusian proposals on “global security, global civilization and AI projects.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krutoj announced that an agreement on cooperation between the \u0141uka\u0161enka administration and the Chinese Communist Party’s international department will soon be drafted. Belarus, he said, is also interested in cooperation with Chinese regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week, officials announced that China’s Ministry of Public Security will soon send a delegation to Minsk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China is known for its social control policy, which is being implemented, among other things, through an extensive video surveillance system. The \u0141uka\u0161enka government is following a similar path. Belarus\u2019 public safety monitoring system encompasses more than 30,000 CCTV cameras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
