October 17, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Warsaw will set up a special border guard unit to beef up border security amid the ongoing illegal migration crisis, Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has told journalists in the Podlaskie voivodeship near the shared border with Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Poland must \u201crestore control over who enters and leaves the country,\u201d especially as illegal crossings via Belarus spiked in September, tvp.info<\/em> reported, quoting Siemoniak as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official also noted the \u201cexemplary cooperation\u201d between the interior and defense ministries in combatting illegal migration. Designed to deter illegal migration of third-country nationals via Belarus, the move may affect Belarusian asylum seekers fleeing Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime.
