October 17, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>A Moscow court postponed the trial of political scientist Andrei Suzdaltsev to November over an incorrect issue of a subpoena, Russian politician Roman Yuneman has said on Telegram.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian embassy in Russia reportedly pressed the charges against the 63-year-old expert for criticizing Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka from pro-Russian positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suzdaltsev, accused of defamation, was scheduled to appear in Moscow’s court on October 15. He remains free but may face up to five years in prison if convicted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, the Belarusian interior ministry branded a community associated with Suzdaltsev as an extremist group for allegedly carrying out \u201cextremist activities both in Russia and Belarus.\u201d His Telegram channel was blacklisted last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suzdaltsev lived in Belarus until Minsk expelled him in 2006, citing \u201cthreats to national security.\u201d He was deported with a five-year entry ban and joined Russia’s Higher School of Economics in 2021. He supports Russia’s war on Ukraine and is know as a longtime critic of \u0141uka\u0161enka and his policies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
