October 17, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>Belarusian economy is synced to presidential electoral cycles with demand rising excessively in the run-up to the vote, says a recent report by the BEROC think tank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High growth rates over the past two years amid an “explosive increase\u201d in consumption \u201cgive rise to concerns about its quality and sustainability,” the experts stressed. Such economic policies imply the risk of overheating, they warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian economy’s exposure to strong shocks increased significantly by July as GDP growth is largely driven by \u201cexcessively soft\u201d policy, linked to the upcoming presidential election, the report noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individuals and businesses need backup plans as they are risking a considerable decline in incomes should these policies remain in place next year, the experts said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus\u2019 GDP rose 4.5 percent in January\u2013September, following a 3.9-percent growth last year and a 4.7-percent contraction in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
