October 18, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Belarus’ demographic crisis is expected to end by 2030, Valeryj Kavalko\u016d, deputy minister of labor and social security, said during yesterday’s information session set up by the Minsk city administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People born in the early 2000s, when birth rates were increasing, will start their own families soon and give birth to more children, Minsk Novosti<\/em> cited the official as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian population totaled 9,155,978 people on January 1, shrinking by 0.5 percent year on year, the National Statistics Committee said earlier. Birth rates declined from 1.73 in 2016 to 1.38 children per woman in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The disputed 2020 presidential election and the crackdown that followed forced up to 500,000 Belarusians to leave their country by January 2024, independent researchers said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
