 October 20, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> About 49 percent of Poles support stricter migration policies, including the suspension of the right to asylum proposed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk amid the ongoing illegal migration crisis, biznesinfo.pl<\/em> reports citing a poll by SW Research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A quarter of respondents spoke out against the new migration strategy, while 27 percent preferred not to respond. The support for limiting asylum rights increased with the age of respondents and their income, the survey noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week, Tusk announced the new migration strategy, following the government\u2019s meeting that discussed the migration crisis at the Polish-Belarusian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the details have not been made public yet, the strategy is said to temporarily suspend the right to asylum in Poland. Designed to deter illegal migration by third-country nationals via Belarus, the move may affect Belarusian asylum seekers fleeing Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tusk faces severe criticism from advocacy groups and politicians, including Polish President Andrzej Duda, yet has the support of the European Union Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
