October 21, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Belarusian pro-democracy forces will present a \u201cpackage of bills for the new Belarus\u201d to MEPs in December, Parlamenskiy Kanal<\/em> reports, citing Anatol Labied\u017aka, constitutional reform adviser to opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The package, to be introduced during the so-called Belarusian week in Brussels, contains bills on local self-government and police among others, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The legislation would pave the way towards the European integration of Belarus, Labied\u017aka said after meeting Dainius \u017dalimas, a Lithuanian MEP and a former head of Lithuania\u2019s Constitutional Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

International experts cooperated with the Belarusian pro-democracy forces in drafting constitutional amendments to ensure compliance with European standards, Cichano\u016dskaja said earlier this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian opposition signed a cooperation agreement with the European Parliament in May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
