The upcoming ban on the movement of Belarusian-registered cars through Latvia will have a negative impact on ordinary people with cross-border family ties, travelers and tourists, the Belarusian State Customs Committee (SCC) said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLatvia\u2019s decision contradicts the principles of civilized society, as it is aimed at infringing on the opportunities and interests of its own citizens,\u201d the SCC said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last weekend alone, about 800 cars crossed the Hryharo\u016d\u0161\u010dyna checkpoint to and from Latvia, it noted. Many travelers crossed the Belarusian-Latvian border for family reasons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By October 31, cars with Belarusian license plates must either be re-registered in Latvia or taken out of the country.
