October 22, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Moscow is ready to provide Minsk with \u201cassistance and support\u201d in case of \u201cattempts to destabilize the situation\u201d during the 2025 presidential election, Russian Ambassador Boris Gryzlov has told RIA Novosti<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, \u201cthere is no reason to believe that the Belarusian law enforcers and special services would need additional assistance,” the diplomat said. \u201cThey are coping with their tasks perfectly well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four years ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia prepared a reserve of law enforcers at Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s request to help the Belarusian police suppress protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities have not yet announced the date for the 2025 presidential election. By law, it is to be held no later than July 20. The government may be planning to set the election date on February 23, according to the opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka has already launched his unannounced electoral campaign with trips to agricultural fairs across Belarus, while politically-motivated reprisals in Belarus continue unabated in the run-up to the vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
