October 22, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> First Deputy Prime Minister Mika\u0142aj Snapko\u016d has expressed concern about a difference in prices of goods in Belarus and Russia, speaking at a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many goods are cheaper in Belarus than in the Russian Federation, Snapko\u016d said, as quoted by Sputnik<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On average, Belarusian apples are 64 percent cheaper, cucumbers are 57 percent, milk 37 percent and pork 12 percent cheaper, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This makes sense given that the average salary in Belarus is lower than in the Russian Federation. But it should be noted that it strains the domestic market in terms of supply,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With this price difference, Belarusian producers “try to minimize deliveries to the domestic market and maximize deliveries to more profitable destinations,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
