{"id":110759,"date":"2024-10-23T12:52:30","date_gmt":"2024-10-23T09:52:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/110759\/"},"modified":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T20:10:49","slug":"belarus-mulls-expansion-of-air-service-with-saudi-arabia-kuwait-morocco","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/110759\/","title":{"rendered":"Belarus mulls expansion of air service with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Morocco"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>October 23, <em>Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus has signed an intergovernmental agreement on passenger air service with Saudi Arabia at a negotiation event hosted by the International Civil Aviation Organization in Malaysia, the transport ministry\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian delegation discussed bilateral cooperation with the United Arab Emirates and approved a memorandum and protocol-level civil aviation documents with Kuwait and Morocco, it noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belarusian flagship carrier Bie\u0142avija provides service to nine countries after being banned from flying to the European Union over the forced landing of Ryanair Flight 4978 in Minsk in May 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, the European General Court upheld the EU sanctions against Bie\u0142avija.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The incident has not been properly investigated because Belarusian officials denied international experts access to key evidence and witnesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Civil Aviation Organization Council determined that the bomb threat against Ryanair Flight 4978 \u201cwas deliberately false and endangered its safety, and furthermore that the threat was communicated to the flight crew upon the instructions of senior government officials of Belarus.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAs neither a bomb nor evidence of its existence was found during pre-departure screening in Athens Greece and after various searches of the aircraft in Belarus and Lithuania, it is considered that the bomb threat was deliberately false.
