That was a decrease from 1,756 instances, including 450 arrests, reported in Belarus in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities held at least 400 trials under the Code of Administrative Offenses in Q3. At least 380 people were sentenced for sharing extremist information, a minor offense punishable by a fine or a jail sentence of up to 15 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Security forces carried out raids in the towns of Biaroza, H\u0142ybokaje and Baranavi\u010dy, and also interrogated people entering the country. Some were arrested upon return from Lithuania and Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first nine months of 2024, at least 1,797 people were arrested across Belarus. More than 6,000 have been sentenced for political reasons since 2020, according to human rights defenders.
