October 31, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Minsk-based European diplomats visited Kurapaty, a woody place just outside the city, on October 31 to pay tribute to victims of Josef Stalin\u2019s terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 30,000 people were executed at the site between 1937 and 1941.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EU, UK and Swiss diplomats visited Kurapaty days before Dziady, ancestors remembrance day marked on November 2.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs a people\u2019s memorial, Kurapaty bears witness to the tireless efforts of many Belarusians who have taken care to protect the dignity of the victims and the national historic memory over the decades. Diplomats of EU and like-minded countries paid their respects to the victims of repression and laid flowers at the monument inaugurated in 2018,\u201d the European Union delegation said on Facebook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
