{"id":112911,"date":"2024-11-06T23:02:58","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T20:02:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/112911\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"dozens-convicted-of-high-treason-since-2020-vote-report","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/112911\/","title":{"rendered":"Dozens convicted of high treason since 2020 vote \u2013 report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>November 6, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> At least 88 people, including 13 women, have been convicted of high treason after the 2020 presidential election, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The number of people prosecuted on this criminal charge is growing rapidly, the center said, as nine months ago, there were &#8220;almost half as many.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It noted that punishments range from seven years in prison, to life imprisonment, to the death penalty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Viasna pointed out that 10 people, including exiled opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja, were sentenced in their absence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Belarusian authorities also use other criminal charges to persecute dissidents.
