November 12, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Iryna Marejka, one of the Brest region’s senior prosecutors, made a presentation on genocide against the Belarusian people at Brest\u2019s Kindergarten No 29, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her colleague Viktoryja Handziuk visited another kindergarten in the Brest region’s Biaroza, showing children a World War II documentary and singing the national anthem with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such meetings aim to \u201cform patriotism and national consciousness, as well as to familiarize children with the cultural traditions and history of their native land,\u201d the office noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also posted a picture of preschool children wearing the colors of the official flag and Soviet WW2 uniforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian state-sponsored propaganda has been actively instrumentalizing children, forcing them to demonstrate state symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the 2020 postelection protests, authorities in Minsk launched a campaign to highlight the genocidal dimensions of massacres committed by the Nazis in 1941\u201343.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two years ago, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka signed a law to criminalize genocide denial, while officials and propaganda workers often try to pin genocide on opposition activists by calling them \u201cfascists.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prosecutor General Andrej \u0160vied personally contributed content by editing the \u201cGenocide Against the Belarusian People During the Great Patriotic War\u201d textbook for 5th graders, in which he accuses voters who took to the street to protest election fraud in 2020 of using Nazi symbols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0160vied also referred to Belarus\u2019 historic white-red-white flag, used by the opposition, as a \u201csymbol of Nazism and genocide.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
