November 13, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The AKC Most foreign languages school in Brest has informed its students of the cancellation of classes and suspension of instruction activities, sources told Pozirk<\/em>, citing school messages in chats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school\u2019s office has been sealed, yet its website and social media remain silent about suspended activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The news comes amid reports of closures of foreign language instruction schools across the country. Security agencies forced at least 10 Polish language schools to shut down, including PanProfessor and Polskipro. Streamline Language School was closed down in Minsk last month by financial investigators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2006, Most established itself as the Brest region’s first private school offering professional Polish language training. The school also offered courses in English and psychology as well as tutoring for high school exams and university admission tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school has trained more than 18,000 people, becoming one of the largest regional foreign language schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities shut down many privately-owned educational institutions following the 2020 political crisis, especially targeting language schools that offered Polish language courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials expressed their discontent with foreign language instruction on numerous occasions, noting that it played a role in the outflow of workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
