November 20, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Western countries stockpile weapons and equipment near their borders with Belarus and \u201cdeploy contingents,\u201d the defense ministry\u2019s press office reported, citing Belarus\u2019 Chief of the General Staff Pavie\u0142 Muraviejka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk is aware that its western neighbors openly militarize their economies, while international structures fail to prevent geopolitical degradation and instability, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The confrontation along the West-East divide aggravated with the \u201cescalation of the conflict in Ukraine near our southern borders,” he said. The general specifically noted the authorization to fire long-range missiles deep into Russian territory and a decision to supply Kyiv with anti-personnel mines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These developments will seriously affect both the security of Belarus and Eastern Europe as a whole, Muraviejka said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian top military officials regularly accuse NATO of hostile intentions. Earlier this month, Muraviejka\u2019s deputy U\u0142adzimir Kupryjaniuk said the West was building up the presence of allied troops capable of carrying out high-precision strikes on targets in Belarus and western Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official noted more than 11,000 NATO troops deployed in Poland and the Baltic states and 15,000 Ukrainian troops near the Belarusian border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2022, Russia started a full-scale war against Ukraine. Authorities in Minsk denied the Belarusian army\u2019s involvement in combat operations but allowed Russian troops to attack Ukraine from Belarus on multiple occasions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
