November 22, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Russia will most likely control the use of the Tor-M2 air defense battery transferred to Belarus yesterday, says<\/a> a recent analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moscow may integrate these new systems into the existing Russian-Belarusian regional joint air defense system, the analysts said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The transfer of Russian military assets to Belarus coincides with the efforts to speed up integration between the two states in the framework of the Union State, the ISW noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian defense ministry confirmed receiving upgraded Tor-M2 (SA-15 Gauntlet) short-range surface-to-air missile battery on November 21. Russian designers improved the equipment taking into account Ukraine combat experience, it said, noting that one system can engage 16 targets simultaneously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tor-M2 systems are stationed near the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant in Astraviec, Hrodna region, close to the shared border with the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
