November 24, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>Human rights defenders designated six more people as political prisoners, bringing the total to 1,274, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New additions include Cimur \u0141ozka, an anesthesiologist from Brest serving an eight-year prison term on terrorism-related charges for donations to opposition groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maksim Remeza\u016d, a former employee of A1 cell company, is also serving a prison term for donations to protest initiatives and Belarusian volunteers fighting Russia in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Michai\u0142 Fando, known for participating in poker championships, is serving five years on similar charges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Siarhiej Skibinski, whose design agency was shut down in 2020, was convicted of facilitating extremism for alleged association with opposition groups and violent disorder, charges that Belarusian authorities routinely use against political opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Askier A\u0142achvierdzije\u016d and Natalla Many\u0142a are also on the list. Both faced extremism-related charges and were ordered to undergo compulsory psychiatric treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
