November 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Grzegorz Schetyna has been elected chairman of the For Free Belarus group in the Polish bicameral parliament, according to the Telegram channel of National Anti-Crisis Management head Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schetyna, chairman of the Senate foreign affairs committee, was Senate marshal in 2010\u20132011 and foreign minister in 2014\u20132015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the For Free Belarus meeting, \u0141atu\u0161ka emphasized the importance of Poland denying recognition to the January’s presidential election in Belarus. He also called for bringing Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka to justice, legalizing Belarusian emigrants in Poland and supporting independent media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Belarusian opposition politician, Schetyna plans to maintain an active policy on Belarus, isolating the regime but remaining open to Belarusian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The group intends to hold public hearings on Belarus at the Polish parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body held its inaugural meeting in March. Its first chairman was Micha\u0142 Szczerba, president of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
