November 28, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian investigators discussed with their Indian counterparts possible agreements between the law enforcement agencies, the Investigative Committee’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The meeting took place in India on the platform of the Eurasian Group on combating money laundering and terrorism financing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials reportedly paid special attention to requests for legal assistance in criminal cases that Belarusian investigators forwarded to India earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Investigative Committee’s Deputy Chairman Anatol Vasilje\u016d noted \u201cthe importance of constructive international cooperation,” citing the transnational nature of crimes committed using information technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official also stressed the need to \u201cexchange of experience in the field of countering drug trafficking, cybercrime, combating extremism and terrorism\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the 2020 political crisis, authorities in Belarus often use extremism- and terrorism-related charges to persecute their political opponents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
