November 28, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarusian Prime Minister Raman Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka has expressed confidence in the “restoration of constructive contacts” between the governments of Belarus and Georgia based on the “principles of mutually beneficial partnership.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Georgian parliament approved the government of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze after the pro-Kremlin Georgian Dream party won the disputed parliamentary election on October 26.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Salome Zourabichvili and opposition coalitions refused to recognize the election results, while demonstrators took to the streets and the European Parliament called for new elections and sanctions against the Georgian leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ha\u0142o\u016d\u010danka congratulated Kobakhidze on his reappointment as head of government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian officials’ contacts with Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have been a source of tension between Minsk and Tbilisi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
