November 29, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> New cases of politically-motivated persecution were documented in Belarus on November 28 as authorities kept punishing participants in the 2020 postelection protests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Natalla Kaz\u0142ova, Kanstancin Panamaro\u016d and Raman Pryhchod\u017aka have been on trial in Navapo\u0142ack, Viciebsk region, since November 18, the Viasna Human Rights Center reported. They all face violent disorder charges, often used to persecute regime critics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hrodna social services put families of children, whose parents were arrested in connection with 2020 protests, on the list of families at social risk, hrodna.life<\/em> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online content<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vasil and Cira Pryjma, Viktar Dzemidovi\u010d, Iryna Kniazeva, Maryja Benza, Ta\u0107ciana Tu\u017eyk and Natalla U\u015bcimienka were tried in Re\u010dyca, Homiel region, for sharing opposition content, Viasna\u2019s Homiel branch reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leanid Klimienka and Arciom Sia\u016druk were tried on similar charges in the Hrodna region, the Pravo Imeyut<\/em> Telegram channel said. The sentences in all cases remain unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaksiej Za\u010dapi\u0142a is on trial in Minsk for allegedly inciting hatred in connection with politically-sensitive social media posts, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A judge in Minsk sentenced Maksim Niabo\u017eyn to four and a half years of restricted freedom in an open-type correctional facility on charges of facilitating extremism for alleged association with opposition groups, Viasna said. Authorities accused him of sharing information and software with the Cyberpartisans opposition hacktivist group branded extremist in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of November 29, human rights defenders identified at least 1,286 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities filed 7,400 politically-motivated criminal cases in the four years since the August 2020 presidential election, Viasna reported in mid-October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
