November 29, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarus-based opposition politician Andrej D\u017amitryje\u016d urged the European countries to bring Belarus back on their agenda, expand ties and support it in an Instagram video that he streamed from the German Bundestag yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u017amitryje\u016d said he \u201cspent two days\u201d at the Bundestag meeting German MPs and the heads of parliamentary committees. He also claimed having a phone conversation with one of the European Parliament\u2019s vice-presidents, but did not specify the name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u017amitryje\u016d, who ran for president in 2020, was released from prison in April after serving 18 months on protest-related charges widely seen as politically motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Four years ago, the politician received just over one percent of the vote in the presidential election, according to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s election commission. He co-chaired the \u201cTell the Truth!\u201d movement dissolved by authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Germany will hold a snap parliamentary election on February 23 following the collapse of Chancellor Olaf Scholz\u2019s governing coalition earlier this month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
