December 3, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The number of Shahed or decoy drones that Russia lost due to Ukrainian electronic warfare interference increased significantly, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said in a report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ukrainian forces can either ‘ground’ the Shaheds, cause them to get ‘lost,’ or cause them to deviate their paths and fly into Russian or Belarusian airspace,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukrainian EW interference significantly increases the load on the joint Russian-Belarusian air defense umbrella, it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that two of the 28 combat drones launched by Russia in the night of December 2 and the morning of December 3 left Ukrainian airspace for Belarus and occupied territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drone attack began at 10:00 p.m. yesterday, the it said. As of 9 a.m., 22 drones were downed and one was lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The defense monitoring group Bie\u0142aruski Hajun said at least 21 Russian Shahed-type drones entered Belarusian airspace from Ukraine and Russia in the early hours of December 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drones flew to Mazyr, Brahin, Homiel and Re\u010dyca (all in the Homiel region). At least three drones entered the Homiel region directly from Russia’s Bryansk province. According to the monitors, Belarus did not scramble its air force in response to the incursions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
