December 10, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Political prisoners in Belarus “remain hostages” and their release is “not a gesture of humanity, but part of the manipulative strategy” of Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s regime, said Volha Zazulinskaja, the opposition’s social policy chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She commented on the Belarusian ruler\u2019s decision to pardon 29 more people convicted of what his press office described as \u201cextremism-related crimes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zazulinskaja welcomed the pardon is “an important event that cannot be ignored, a relief for the families of those released.” “And this event underlines that constant pressure on the regime can lead to concrete results,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“As long as thousands of people remain behind bars for their beliefs, the struggle for their freedom must continue. Each release reminds us of the value of human life and of our goal: a complete end to repression, not temporary concessions,” she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
