December 10, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Syria has demonstrated that dictatorships fall apart in a matter of days, said Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka, a Belarusian opposition politician, at a meeting in Warsaw with the Czech ambassador to Poland, B\u0159etislav Dan\u010d\u00e1k.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two days ago, rebels captured Damascus, forcing Bashar al-Assad to flee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka emphasized that dictators “only understand the language of force,” so the international community must keep up pressure on the Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka regime, reported the opposition transition cabinet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He urged the Czech Republic to support Lithuania’s appeal to the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for the Belarusian ruler.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka suggested that the European Union should be the voice of Belarus’ “democratic majority” at possible future Ukraine peace talks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He described the forthcoming presidential election in Belarus as a farce, noting that the international community should not recognize it as a real election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For his part, Dan\u010d\u00e1k promised to convey the position of the pro-democracy forces to the Czech foreign ministry, according to the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
