December 11, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian foreign ministry has summoned Polish Charge d’Affaires Krzysztof O\u017canna to hand him a note in connection with an alleged attempt to recruit a Belarusian diplomat for \u20ac100,000 in Moldova, the state-run media reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk lodged \u201ca strong protest,\u201d describing the incident as a gross violation of international law that could damage bilateral relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Foreign ministry spokesman Anatol H\u0142az added that the ministry is considering further steps, while the Committee for State Security’s chief investigator Kanstancin By\u010dak accused Polish secret services of attempts to cover up their failures in Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In recent years, relations between Belarus and Poland deteriorated dramatically as Minsk has taken a hardline anti-Polish stance. Belarusian officials have accused Warsaw of toying with plans to invade Belarus to annex its western regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warsaw criticized Minsk for alleged human rights abuses, including the imprisonment of Polish minority activists, its role in orchestrating the migrant crisis, and involvement in Russia\u2019s assault on Ukraine, as well as the destruction of at least 13 Polish memorial sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
