December 11, <\/strong>Pozirk.<\/strong><\/em> Marharyta Vorychava, in charge of youth policy at the opposition transition cabinet, has urged <\/em>Europe to \u201copen its doors” for Belarusian youth, as she addressed the fourth meeting of the EU Consultative Group with the Belarusian pro-democracy forces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Young people in Belarus feel trapped, scared and helpless as authorities prevent them from obtaining decent education and jobs, the cabinet’s press office reports, citing Vorychava as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe need your support to secure visas, internships and scholarships for those who strive for a better future,” Vorychava told the EU representatives. “We need to strengthen and support youth organizations within Belarus, as well as structures that work tirelessly for the future democratic Belarus and its sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Europe will be investing \u201cin the strength and stability of the entire continent\u201d by supporting Belarusian youth, the politician stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja and her associate Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka also participated in the meeting, which took place as a part of Belarus Days in Brussels this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The series of events organized by the European External Action Service (EEAS) in cooperation with the European Commission and the European Parliament are designed to demonstrate the EU\u2019s solidarity and continued commitment to the Belarusian people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EEAS invited more than 100 Belarusian pro-democracy activists, international organizations, journalists and artists to participate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
