{"id":119241,"date":"2024-12-20T22:14:30","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T19:14:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/119241\/"},"modified":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T20:40:57","slug":"baj-and-other-media-organizations-support-georgian-journalists","status":"publish","type":"articles","link":"https:\/\/pozirk.online\/en\/news\/119241\/","title":{"rendered":"BAJ and other media organizations support Georgian journalists"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>December 20, <em>Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Journalists have faced dozens of physical attacks, verbal abuses and obstructions during the dispersal of protests in Georgia since November 28, according to a statement released by the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Georgian media organizations, independent and critical media outlets mainly from Tbilisi suffered the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR), a pan-European mechanism, documented attacks on 81 journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organizations concerned with press freedom, freedom of expression and journalism expressed their solidarity with journalists and media in Georgia. The MFRR partners condemned the constant attacks and pressure on media workers and once again called on EU officials and institutions to respond decisively to this violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides the BAJ, the statement was signed by organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Albania, Belgium, Lithuania, Poland, Estonia, Sweden, Serbia, Norway, Slovenia, Russia, Finland, Armenia, Iceland, Croatia, France, Germany and other countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The socio-political crisis in Georgia has intensified following the October 26 parliamentary elections, with the ruling Georgian Dream party&#8217;s victory being contested by opposition forces.
