December 21, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The human rights situation in Belarus has reached unprecedented levels for Europe over the past decades, opposition politician Pavie\u0142 \u0141atu\u0161ka told Nils Mui\u017enieks, the new UN special rapporteur on human rights in Belarus, at their meeting in Warsaw yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sides also discussed priority areas for the mandate of the new rapporteur, the opposition transition cabinet\u2019s press office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141atu\u0161ka shared with Mui\u017enieks reports on human rights violations by Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka and other Belarusian officials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The politician thanked Mui\u017enieks for his openness to cooperation with Belarusian civil society and pledged readiness for collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Human Rights Council established the mandate of the special rapporteur on Belarus in 2012. Mui\u017enieks was granted the mandate in early October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
