December 24, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The Belarusian government has issued Directive No 993 to extend the so-called countersanctions against the products of Liqui Moly, \u0160koda Auto and Beiersdorf until December 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities banned Belarusian companies from importing and distributing these companies\u2019 products more than three years ago after they had refused to sponsor the 2021 IIHF World Championship games that were initially supposed to be co-hosted by Minsk and Riga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Western companies declined sponsorship over the 2020 political crisis in Belarus and the crackdown that followed. The hockey tournament eventually took place only in Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minsk has extended restrictions six times since 2021. However, recently it lifted the ban for individuals who move to Belarus for permanent residence and refugees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past few years, democratic countries have imposed multiple restrictions on Belarus over human rights abuses, alleged vote rigging in the 2020 presidential election, a brutal crackdown on protesters, the forced landing of a Ryanair flight, a migration crisis at the European Union border, as well as support of Russia\u2019s war in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
