January 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> The District Court of Lublin in Poland has begun a closed trial of 53-year-old Belarusian Mika\u0142aj M., accused of espionage, RMF<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another defendant in the case, a 59-year-old Polish national, is accused of assisting in the crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both have pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prosecutors sent the case to the court in November 2024. According to investigators, the crimes were committed from 2018 to February 24, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the indictment, Mika\u0142aj focused on reconnaissance of the area of the military airport in Bia\u0142a Podlaska, kept tabs on military aviation there and also gathered information about the railway infrastructure and the movement of military hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Mika\u0142aj spied on facilities and vehicles in the possession of the Internal Security Agency in Bia\u0142a Podlaska, the Polish radio station reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Polish security services regularly detain Russians and Belarusians on suspicion of espionage. Last September, a judge in Lublin sentenced a national of Belarus to 34 months in prison as part of an espionage case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
