January 14, Pozirk<\/em>. <\/strong>The Belarusian opposition\u2019s passport center will start accepting applications for New Belarus passports during the Belarusians Deserve Better forum on January 26, project manager Marius Gudelaitis told Zerkalo<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The move is timed to coincide with the main voting day in Belarus\u2019 presidential election, which she opposition has dismissed as a sham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gudelaitis noted that Belarusians will not be able to travel with this passport just year, “until it is included in the databases of travel documents.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We have printed samples to send to governments and to add to international travel document databases,” he stressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja introduced Gudelaitis at the New Belarus conference in Vilnius on August 3, noting that the New Belarus passport project had taken off the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 28, the Belarusian Investigative Center reported that the Lithuanian company Gars\u0173 Pasaulio, commissioned to design a New Belarus passport, was linked to Viktar \u0160a\u016dco\u016d, a businessman close to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Lithuanian interior ministry terminated its contract with the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
