January 15, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Minsk and regional prosecutors, higher prosecutors, and the Investigative Committee and Committee for State Security chairpersons are authorized to initiate criminal cases against All-Belarusian People’s Assembly (UNS) delegates or involve them as suspects or defendants in cases against other persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The House of Representatives adopted the second reading of this amendment to the Belarusian Criminal Procedure Code on January 10, the National Legal Internet Portal reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the amendment is signed into law, UNS delegates would be subject to the same criminal procedure as the regional and Minsk city council deputies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In case of a UNS delegate’s detention, officers should notify the UNS Presidium of the incident immediately, in writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the updated Constitution, the UNS is the highest representative body of people’s power, which determines the strategic priorities and ensures the inviolability of the constitutional order, the continuity of generations, and civil harmony. In April last year, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka was elected chairman of the UNS Presidium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
