January 16, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Deployment of the Russian Oreshnik ballistic missiles in Belarus would allow Minsk to fight back any potential aggressor, inflicting \u201cunacceptable damage,\u201d Belarus\u2019 top security official Alaksandar Valfovi\u010d has told the state-run SB.Belarus Segodnya<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He referred to Russian Iskander-M missile systems and tactical nuclear weapons as other components of the country’s military potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d lauded Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka for ensuring the security of Belarus days ahead its longtime ruler is expected to secure a landslide victory in a presidential election dismissed by the opposition as a sham. Strong presidential powers only strengthen true democracy, he claimed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valfovi\u010d also described Belarus as “an internationally recognized donor of global and regional security” that promotes \u201cpeace and harmony.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few weeks ago, \u0141uka\u0161enka claimed that Belarus had around 30 sites ready to host Oreshnik missiles that Russian President Vladimir Putin had promised to supply this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
