January 21, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> The Belarusian government will find it hard to maintain a high growth rate “as labor, capital, machines and equipment are used at full capacity,” Anatol Charyton\u010dyk, a senior researcher with the Belarusian Economic Research and Outreach Center (BEROC), has told journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The economy grew by 4 percent. It is well above a “balanced growth rate” estimated at 1.5\u20132 percent by BEROC and 2\u20132.5 percent by the National Bank of Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The economist did not rule out that in the first quarter of 2025, growth might accelerate compared to the fourth quarter of 2024. He is expecting Belarus to grow between 1.5 percent and 2.5 percent in January\u2013March year on year, and by 1.5\u20132 percent in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The current economic imbalances cannot trigger a sharp depreciation of the Belarusian rubel, unless “the Russian and global economies collapse or there is a severe shock,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian government projects GDP growth of 4.1 percent for 2025. Exports of goods and services are expected to rise by 5.4 percent. The government plans to keep inflation below 5 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
