January 22, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Latvian President Edgars Rink\u0113vi\u010ds has declared the Baltic state’s non-recognition of the presidential election in Belarus at a meeting with \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja during the World Economic Forum in Davos, the opposition leader’s advisor Franak Via\u010dorka told Pozirk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja thanked Rink\u0113vi\u010ds for a “principled and consistent position” and “paid special attention to the importance of supporting Belarusians in Latvia and the Belarusian diaspora organizations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cichano\u016dskaja urged Latvia to keep the border open for passengers and Belarusians, fleeing repression, but to restrict the movement of sanctioned goods, as their transportation allows the regime to make money and continue terror.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian opposition leader also met with Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen. Cichano\u016dskaja invited Finland to join an international humanitarian foundation for the oppressed, as Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Estonia have already done. The parties raised the issue of Finland’s joining Lithuania’s initiative to bring Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka to justice through the International Criminal Court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
