January 27, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on winning the presidential election in a telegram, the Kremlin’s press office reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Putin described \u0141uka\u0161enka\u2019s \u201cconvincing victory\u201d as proof of \u201chigh political authority\u201d and \u201cthe undeniable support of the population.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leaders of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan spoke to \u0141uka\u0161enka by phone and congratulated him on extending his 30-year rule, the Belarusian ruler’s press office said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian Central Election Commission (CEC) has declared \u0141uka\u0161enka the winner in Belarus\u2019 presidential election with 86.82 percent of the vote. \u0141uka\u0161enka has been awarded less than Putin, who was given 87.28 percent in Russia\u2019s 2024 presidential poll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other bidders lagged far behind, winning from 3.2 to 1.7 percent of the vote, according to the CEC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The election has drawn severe criticism for the lack of transparency and repressive environment as a number of democratic countries and exiled Belarusian opposition have dismissed it as a sham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
