January 27, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Belarus has sent Google a letter accusing it of interfering in elections, Information Minister Marat Marka\u016d told Konstantin Pridybaylo, a propagandist of the Russia Today<\/em> television channel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the minister, the letter concerns “Google’s complicity in information provocations against Belarus and the presidential elections in the country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter points to “a very specific violation of the law,\u201d since these provocations involve “formations that have been recognized by a court in the Republic of Belarus as extremist,” Marka\u016d said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Google’s interaction with the “criminal organizations” is concerning and undermines its reputation, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I would like them to at least to understand this and then make appropriate decisions,” the minister asserted, without explaining what the provocative acts were and how the tech giant was involved in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marka\u016d also suggested launching a Belarusian equivalent of the Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor. “I have no doubt that its creation is long overdue,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
