January 31, Pozirk. <\/em><\/strong>Several protesters went on trial in Minsk, according to reports on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trial of pediatric oncologist Alena \u0160arafanovi\u010d began at the Pier\u0161amajski District Court. Authorities accused her of violent disorder, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kastry\u010dnicki District Court started considering a violent disorder case against U\u0142adzis\u0142a\u016d Pramiena\u0161a\u016d, Mediazona <\/em>reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Leninski District Court began examining a similar case against auditor and business coach D\u017amitryj Cimafijevi\u010d, Na\u0161a Niva<\/em> said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a pro-government source said a 39-year-old resident of Malaryta, Brest region, was arrested for removing the state flag from a pharmacy building overnight. The man reportedly wanted to hang the flag at his summer house.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Investigators opened a criminal case against Ihar S\u0142u\u010dak, an exiled popularizer of the Belarusian language. According to his Instagram page, they accused him of supporting extremism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, authorities declared “The Forest,” a documentary about Josef Stalin’s terror, extremist content. The Ministry of Information also blacklisted to several social media pages, including the TikTok accounts Mogilevnews<\/em>, Pavlo<\/em> and Pozirk_online<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Mahilo\u016d region prosecutors forced the OZON e-commerce platform to remove the book “Heroes of Luftwaffe” by Russian historian and journalist Konstantin Zalessky from sale, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Viasna Homiel, authorities released blogger and political prisoner Viktoryja Husarava. Her incitement charge trial started at the Homiel Regional Court on January 17. The verdict is unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of January 31, human rights defenders identified at least 1,245 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
