February 6, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Yesterday’s reports of a <\/em><\/strong>data breach at Bie\u0142aruski Hajun, an opposition group monitoring military activity in Belarus, may be linked to the arrests of two activists last week. Law enforcers could have gained access to the project’s chat via an old invitation link saved in one of their smartphones, Na\u0161a Niva <\/em>reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other cases of politically-motivated persecution documented in Belarus on February 4 included the trial of Ja\u016dhien and \u0141uiza Radzievi\u010d, a married couple from Pastavy, Viciebsk region, accused of sharing opposition content, the Vitebsk, Ya Gulayu <\/em>Telegram channel said. The sentence remains unknown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bie\u0142aru\u015bbank employee A\u0142a Katlarenka was tried in Miory, Viciebsk region, on similar charges, the Viciebsk branch of the Viasna Human Rights Center said. Rights defenders also reported the second trial of Michai\u0142 Filipienka accused of breaking regulations governing mass events. The man may still be in jail after his first trial on January 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information ministry reported extremist content designations for an anti-police song by Ruki Na Odeyalo band; nina_a_sh<\/em>, belarusians.lietuva1<\/em>, leanidmyshlenik<\/em> and throughcameraprism<\/em> on Instagram; onlineua<\/em> and belaruski_krok<\/em> on TikTok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Criminal proceedings<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leanid Trafimovi\u010d, 16, was given one-year restricted freedom term in home confinement for removing a state flag from a rooftop and hiding it at home, Viasna reported. The trial took place in Va\u016dkavysk, Hrodna region, on January 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jailed opposition activist U\u0142adzimir Kniha went on new trial in Barysa\u016d, Minsk region, Viasna said. He has been held behind bars for four and a half years, including more than 15 months incommunicado, on charges widely seen as politically motivated. Last year, authorities added one year to his prison term for alleged misbehavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ivan Burlik, Viktar Viarbicki, Alaksandar D\u017amitruk and Ivan Li\u0107vin went on trial in Kobryn, Brest region, on protest-related charges, according to Viasna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People leaving Belarus are subjected to thorough checks at the border, Andrej Stry\u017eak of the BySol solidarity fund said on Telegram, following an earlier report about the data breach of an opposition chat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A pro-government source disclosed the names of five people released under the pardon program in late 2024: Arciom Bajarski, Alaksandar Zubko\u016d, Alena Bur\u0142akova and Alaksandar Hrydziu\u0161ka and a certain \u017dar\u0142o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of February 6, human rights defenders identified at least 1,232 political prisoners but the real number is considerably higher because many cases go undocumented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At least 7,915 people have been subjected to criminal prosecution for political reasons since 2020, Viasna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
