February 10, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani\u2019 congratulatory message to Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka on extending his 30-year-long rule in Belarus stressed the wish to strengthen friendly relations between both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belarusian ruler\u2019s press office has also reported receiving congratulations from Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of February 10, leaders of 33 states congratulated \u0141uka\u0161enka on his seventh term in office after the January 21-26 election that took place in a purged political landscape amid a new crackdown on regime critics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of them, including Azerbaijan, China, Cuba, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Venezuela, Vietnam and Zimbabwe, issued their statements following the announcement of preliminary election results on January 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forty states, among them Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, Ukraine and the United Kingdom, dismissed Belarus\u2019 recent election as a sham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The country has not held a single free and fair election since 1996 by standards of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
