February 10, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Russia launched a massive drone attack on Ukraine on the night of February 9\u201310, the independent Belarusian news website Flagshtok <\/em>reported. At least 12 drones entered Belarusian territory. Blasts were heard in Homiel and the Homiel region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first explosion was detected in the south of the Mazyr region at about 2:07 a.m. Observers experienced a second-long power outage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ukraine\u2019s Rynda Monitoryt<\/em> said an UAV was spotted flying over the Homiel region toward Naro\u016dla. The drone went offline near the village of Barbaro\u016d, 8 kilometers off the Mazyr oil refinery. It might have been downed in the Russian air defense zone at the Vialiki Boka\u016d airfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Homiel, “loud, muffled explosions frightened residents of the entire city.” At 03:26 a.m., the blasts were heard in all districts with an interval of 15\u201320 seconds. Three strong explosions rocked the south of the city. Russian air defenses reportedly fired shots to defend the Ziabra\u016dka airfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At about 03:30 a.m., a blast was heard in the southern town of Chojniki. Locals told the website that about that time, a drone fell near the district executive committee and almost hit Kato\u016dski Lane 3, a five-story block. Its residents were evacuated to a hotel. Nearby shops were closed. After lunch, the drone was reportedly taken away and detonated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarus did not scramble its air force in response to the incursions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the Russians launched 151 drones, including Iranian-designed Shahed drones and decoy drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian officials usually don’t comment on Russian drone incursions. However, on October 4, Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka said that Belarus had downed “many” drones regardless of their Ukrainian or Russian origin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141uka\u0161enka attributed the incursions to the low level of expertise of drone operators. Electronic warfare systems also set the drones off course, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
