February 11, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> Belarusian opposition leader \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja met Oliver R\u00f6pke in charge of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), a Brussels-based EU advisory body, yesterday on the sidelines of the AI Action Summit in Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The EESC will oversee the organization of several events focusing on Belarusian independent media outlets, trade unions, vulnerable groups and exiled businesses, Cichano\u016dskaja\u2019s aide Franak Via\u010dorka has told Pozirk<\/em>, citing the meeting outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cooperation with the EESC may be beneficial for the Belarusian pro-democracy forces as the agency helps the EU shape political decisions that may include Belarus, he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R\u00f6pke also invited the Belarusian politician to address the EESC plenary session, focusing on challenges that Belarusians face both inside the country and in exile, while Cichano\u016dskaja negotiated internships at the EESC to train future leaders for a democratic Belarus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
