February 11, Pozirk.<\/em> <\/strong>The prominent fitness coach, Natalla Nava\u017ey\u0142ava, is scheduled to go on trial at a Minsk court on Monday to answer charges of violent disorder, according to an e-justice portal and human rights defenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Belarusian authorities have misused the charge to prosecute peaceful protesters who took to the street against election fraud in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nava\u017ey\u0142ava, a renowned Soviet gymnast, is the founder of Belarus’ first fitness chain, Bagheera, and a former TV host, according to the Viasna Human Rights Center and independent media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From 1994 to 2001, she was the host at the TV show “Workouts with Natalla Nava\u017ey\u0142ava.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nava\u017ey\u0142ava was a member of the \u201cTell the Truth!\u201d campaign and a confidant of opposition politician Ta\u0107ciana Karatkievi\u010d in the 2018 local council election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2019, she wanted to ran for a seat in the House of Representatives, but officials refused to register her candidacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was a member of Andrej D\u017amitryje\u016d\u2019s campaign staff during the 2020 presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
