February 12, Pozirk.<\/em><\/strong> Historian Alexander Friedman has commented on today’s release <\/a>of three inmates from Alaksandar \u0141uka\u0161enka’s prisons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his opinion, although the release process was not managed by Moscow, the Belarusian ruler played only a supporting role in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c\u0141uka\u0161enka creates an additional background for Russia and participates as a component of Russia’s policy. It is clear,\u201d Friedman told Pozirk<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expert pointed out that Minsk remains silent about the release and \u201chas completely surrendered the news agenda to \u015aviat\u0142ana Cichano\u016dskaja’s Office.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll key Belarusian propagandists are filling the media with a telephone conversation between [US President Donald] Trump and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin instead, to keep the topic of an exchange out of the information space,\u201d Friedman said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen the USSR and the USA made deals, publicity was always important for the Americans. It was always important for them to show that they won. In fact, this is how President Donald Trump is behaving now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the historian, \u201cwhen such regimes as \u0141uka\u0161enka’s or Putin’s get something in return but must not disclose it under the terms [of the deal], they will be silent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
