February 13, Pozirk<\/em>.<\/strong> A draft Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) program on cooperation in combating terrorism and extremism for 2026\u20132028 has been sent for revision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision to send it back was made by an expert group that discussed the program at a meeting in Minsk yesterday, the CIS Executive Committee reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that \u201cthe need to adopt the program is due to the aspiration of the Commonwealth states to adequately address changes in the operational situation in this field.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe program\u2019s activities involve improving the organizational and legal mechanisms for cooperation in fighting against terrorism and extremism, preparing and conducting joint events to prevent, identify, and suppress terrorism and extremism, providing information-analytical and scientific support for the CIS member states\u2019 activities in this area, and developing the human resources of relevant authorities,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, on October 4, the program was discussed at the Meeting of the CIS Heads of Security Agencies and Intelligence Services in Astana (Kazakhstan). The Russian Federal Security Service said there were plans to \u201cdesign measures for stronger cooperation in organizing the search for members of international terrorist organizations and other radical elements on entry and exit channels to the CIS states.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
