Belarusian authorities arrested him at the border with Lithuania on January 8, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;They refused his asylum request and, although Nasriddinov still had time to appeal the refusal, extradited him to Tajikistan on July 24, despite objections from local and international organizations,&#8221; the statement reads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Tajik Service of&nbsp;<em>Radio Free Europe\/Radio Liberty<\/em>, the activist is being held at the State Committee for National Security in Tajikistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>International agreements strictly prohibit Belarus from &#8220;expelling or extraditing a person to a country where they face a risk of torture,&#8221; HRW said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>August 2,&nbsp;BPN.&nbsp;Minsk was wrong to extradite a Tajik political activist to his homeland regardless of any circumstances or any charges against him because it contradicted its international commitments, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has said in a statement.
