August 2, BPN.<\/em><\/strong> Electricity transmission system operators of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have signed an agreement to disconnect from the power grid shared with Belarus and Russia and connect to the networks of continental Europe in February 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rokas Masiulis, CEO of Lithuania’s Litgrid, said today the operators have made clear commitments to perform the synchronization in the agreed time. The Baltic states will not renew the BRELL agreement with Belarus and Russia in summer 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The prime ministers of the three countries are expected to express their support for the operators’ agreement soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lithuania successfully tested the operation of its national energy system in isolation from Belarus and Russia in April. Ukraine, which is fighting off Russian invaders, also disconnected its energy system from Belarus and Russia and synchronized it with the European operators last year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
